Oven Fried Chicken Wings Recipe
Oven fried chicken wings are made without flour, so they are low carb and keto-friendly! Don't worry, these wings come out super crispy and full of flavor.
This recipe is perfect for lunch, dinner, or as an appetizer. I like eating them with hot sauce, but you could also serve them with ranch, blue cheese, or buffalo sauce.
The key to great chicken wings is all in the seasonings. We are going to be seasoning these wings generously because nobody likes bland chicken!
How to make wings crispy in the oven
The trick to making crispy wings in the oven is baking powder! You'll want to be sure that it is aluminum-free, so you don't get a metallic taste. Aluminum-free baking powder mixed with seasonings creates a delicious crispy breading when baked in the oven.
You cannot substitute baking soda for the baking powder, as they will not come out the same.
Also, you'll want to make sure that you pat the wings dry to get rid of excess moisture. This will ensure that the wings are extra crispy!
Oven Temperature and Cook Time
We are going to be baking these wings at 425 degrees to make sure they are nice and crispy. Cooking them at a high temperature ensures that the wings form a nice breaded coating.
At 425 degrees, they only take 50 minutes to bake. Just flip them over halfway through the cooking time so that both sides cook evenly.
What to serve with chicken wings
These wings would be great with celery sticks, broccoli and cheese casserole, or broccoli salad. They could also be served alone as an appetizer.

I made these and loved them. My husband said they were the best wings he ever had. I added some Paul Prudhomme’s meat seasoning to add some extra spice.

You nailed it!!! Best wings I have ever had. Is the spice from the baking powder?
Kay Johnson
Thank you, I'm so happy to hear that! I don't find these spicy, though if you're sensitive to spicy foods then maybe so.
Janet

Thank you, I'm so happy that you enjoyed them! And I haven't tried this with thighs, but you may just need to adjust the cooking time.

These were yummy, but most of mine stuck to the foil, so I lost some of the skin. Do you spray the pan, or maybe I should try the parchment paper next time...? I cooked them for 25 minutes on the first side, but they only needed a few more once flipped. And these were average sized wings.
Kay Johnson
I actually don't spray the pan, but that would be fine. And yes try parchment paper next time. I used it last time I made them, and they did not stick. I'm so happy that you enjoyed them. Thank you!
Barbara
These were fantastic! My husband and I both loved them. I'm amazed how much they tasted like fried chicken after using so little "batter." This is a keeper!
Katie
I have these in the oven as we speak. Mine also stuck to the foil so next time I'll use parchment paper. But I found the flipped easier with 27 minutes on one side. I'm making bbq and honey garlic! Happy new years!!!
Peggy and Tom Rice
We have made them before and they are fantastic-making them tomorrow as well! I always trim off the excess fat first and that really matters! Also, I cook the drums 10’min lingers than the flats!
V.MR
I've always made oven fried wings with baking powder but I would spray the wings with oil before putting in the oven. This time I followed your instructions as is, perfect. The spray isn't necessary. The husband enjoyed them. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

IVE BEEN MAKING CHICKEN WINGS— BUT NEVER AS CRISPY AS THIS!!! I SUBSTITUTED RICE FLOUR ( AS I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH BAKING POWDER *** OMG ////CRISPY—TRY IT SURE TO HAVE GREAT RESULTS!!!
JC
I followed the recipe except I placed the wings on top of a wire baking rack and turned them after about 25 minutes. I baked them for about 10 minutes longer, and they were very crispy. This is now my go to recipe for wings. I like this method better than the air fryer recipes that I’ve tried.
Barbara
We make them regularly now. Best wings at home ever. I do have to double the coating recipe, and mine only take about 40 minutes.
Beth
I love this recipe! I'm not on any special diet, but just decided to give this a try last year and it's DELICIOUS. I think I've made these wings over 20 times, mixing up the seasoning each time. Easy to follow recipe, perfectly crispy baked wings. Our favorite is Old Bay seasoning.
