What is marry me chicken?
Marry me chicken is an easy chicken recipe made with a creamy parmesan sauce, garlic, sundried tomatoes, and seasonings. It is typically made with chicken breasts, but could also be made with chicken thighs.
It is called "Marry Me Chicken" because it is said to taste so good that it would make someone want to marry you. I have to agree, as this is one of my husband's favorite recipes that I make!
Ingredients
Here's what you'll need to make this recipe:
- Chicken Breast - Be sure to use thinly sliced chicken breasts. If your chicken breasts are too thick, slice them in half so that they will cook all the way through.
- Seasonings - I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
- Olive Oil and Butter - Olive oil is used to saute the chicken. Butter is used to saute the garlic for the sauce.
- Minced Garlic - You'll want to mince the garlic. It's sauteed in butter and adds delicious flavor to the sauce.
- Chicken Broth - Adds flavor, and helps with the consistency of the sauce.
- Heavy Cream - Serves as the base of the sauce.
- Grated Parmesan - Adds delicious flavor to any cream-based sauce.
- Sundried tomatoes - Delicious, robust flavor, that takes this chicken to the next level.
How to make marry me chicken
Step by Step Instructions:
- Season the chicken front and back with salt and pepper. Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken on each side (about 5 minutes on each side). Remove the chicken from the skillet, and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium, and add the butter and garlic. Saute the garlic until fragrant.
- Add in the chicken broth, heavy cream, grated parmesan, and seasonings. Whisk everything together until smooth. Increase heat to medium-high until the sauce begins to thicken, stirring frequently.
- Add the sundried tomatoes, then stir them into the sauce. Next, add the chicken back to the pan and spoon the sauce over the chicken. Allow to simmer for 3 - 5 minutes until the chicken is warmed through, and then serve immediately.
Recipe Tips
- Use thinly sliced chicken breasts, so that the chicken cooks all the way through. Chicken cutlets are thinly sliced chicken breasts that are typically sold in the meat department of the grocery store.
- Be sure not to overcook the chicken so that it doesn't dry out. Chicken is done cooking when it reaches an internal temp of 165 degrees.
- For added flavor, stir in a little bit of the oil from the jar of sundried tomatoes into the sauce.
- If you have time, grate your own parmesan cheese. It melts better and has great flavor.
- For added veggies, add fresh baby spinach to the sauce.

This is the first time I have ever posted a reply to an online recipe, but this one richly deserves the honour! I had leftover sour cream at hand so used it instead of heavy cream & I dusted the chicken with a blend of flour and Masa Harina to encourage some Maillard, but otherwise stayed largely true to your design. We accompanied it with a Caesar Salad & Foccacia for an over the top dinner. I must point out that the chicken was as wonderful, and perhaps more so, for a repeat performance as leftovers. Well done and thank you!

I am in love with this sauce. I wanted to know about making a double batch of it. Is it advisable to make it all at once or to separate the batches and then combine later?
Kay Johnson
Thank you so much, I love this sauce as well! You can make it all at once.
